Wetumpka Crater Events Set for January 30th to February 1st
If you have not been on a tour of the Wetumpka Impact Crater, you have missed a great history lesson. About 85 million years ago a very large meteor hit where Wetumpka sits today. It created a five-mile wide crater that is still visible near the city.
NOTE: The business meeting will be from 6:00-6:30, program will start at 6:45.
Our January meeting will be devoted primarily to our annual election of officers. A brief program by James Lamb will follow.
LOCATION: Hoover Public Library, Meeting Room A and B. Free and open to the public.
The annual Science Teacher Workshop was conducted by the University of West Alabama, and the Geological Survey of Alabama. Volunteer assistance was provided by members of BPS.
Our speaker for December will be James Lamb, Curator of Paleontology at the Black Belt Museum in Livingston, Alabama. He will speak on "What happened in the world of paleontology in 2013." Hoover Public Library, Meeting Room A. Free and open to the public.
