It turned out to be another hot, steamy, sunny, gorgeous day for a field trip to a creek. Fortunately for us, this creek had a canopy of trees that overshadowed the waters and provided a cool environment.
Three sites were visited in northern Mississippi. Site 1 featured the Prairie Bluff and Chiwapa Sandstone (Ripley) formations. Echinoids and decapods were found in the Chiwapa Sandstone in Pontotoc county.
Alabama has gotten a lot of rain lately, with that said... Saturday turned out to be a good day to fossil hunt!
Our speaker for August is Dr. Brad Deline from University of West Georgia. The program will be : "Across the globe and to the bottom of the sea: stories and science from two field seasons".
