The annual Science Teacher Workshop was conducted by the University of West Alabama, and the Geological Survey of Alabama. Volunteer assistance was provided by members of BPS.

BPS is holding an Open House at the Homewood Library on Sunday July 28, from 2:30 until 4pm, upstairs in the Round Auditorium. There will be light refreshments, fossils to examine, and a "fossil dig" where kids can find fossils, have them identified, and take them home. Our "Fossils of Alabama" exhibit is in the display cases at the library all month.
The Homewood Library is at 1721 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, AL.
Our speaker on August 5 will be Dr. Dana Ehret, Curator of Paleontology for the Alabama Museum of Natural History at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Dr. Ehret's talk will focus on his work on the evolution of white sharks and is entitled “Fishing for the Origins of the White Shark in Peru." Hoover Public Library, Meeting Room C at 7pm. Free and open to the public.
BPS will be presenting a fossil exhibit at the Homewood Public Library during the month of July, 2013. The exhibit is in the Ellenburg Art Gallery, and is free to everyone. In addition, on Sunday July 28, 2013, BPS will present an informal reception from 2:30-4:00 in the Round Auditorium. Come join us for a fossil dig for the kids, hands on fossil display, and a lot of fun!
Meeting is 2nd Monday in July, not first! Our speaker on July 8 will be Scott Brande, Associate Professor in the Chemistry Department at UAB, who will speak on “Environment, Geology, and the Potential for Life on Mars." Hoover Public Library, Meeting Room A at 7pm. Free and open to the public.
