The next regular meeting of the BPS is Monday, December 6, 2010, 7-9 pm at the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Our speaker will be George Phillips, the Curator of Paleontology at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. In addition to his curator job, he conducts research on turtles, echinoderms, the ecology of the prairie, and other terrestrial vertebrates. Some of his photos have been posted on The Paleontology Portal. He gave BPS members permission to visit a research site in Mississippi for our May field trip, and wants to take this opportunity to examine the material found by members. PLEASE BRING YOUR MAY, 2010 FOSSIL FINDS TO THE MEETING! If you are out of the area and cannot attend, please send photos of your finds to Vicki.
ALSO, we had a request for some sample fossils from an elementary school student in Georgia, and voted to send some to his teacher. Please bring a fossil or information on fossils so we can mail them out.
Free parking; Enter the The McWane Science Center parking deck from 2nd Ave. North, proceed to yellow level "C", enter the door marked "Special Events" and bear to the left.
