Mesozoic

Three sites were visited in northern Mississippi.  Site 1 featured the Prairie Bluff and Chiwapa Sandstone (Ripley) formations.  Echinoids and decapods were found in the Chiwapa Sandstone in Pontotoc county.  Site 2 was a Coffee Sands exposure in Lee county, known for shark teeth, Mosasaur teeth and vertebrae, gastropods, and echinoids.
