It was a gorgeous October day when the members of BPS set out for a field trip to a chalk gully. Just a tad bit warm and that day and even warmer while traversing the gullies. Thank goodness for the shade from the cedar trees casting a shadow for us. Lots of finds for the day consisting of Scapanorynchnus (Goblin Shark), Cretalamna, and Squalicorax (Crow Shark) teeth were found as well as vertebrae. James, our Paleontologist guide had discovered a fish jaw and turtle shell near each other, not only was he was assisting us with ID's, he was excavating the skeletal finds to add to the museum collection. In addition to the fossilized shark teeth, fish teeth and vertebrae, lots of other marine fossils were found to add to collection of the members. A great time was had by all and look forward to going back soon!
