BPS is now using https:// in our URL instead of http://. This will make the site more secure, and all passwords will be encrypted. In the past, a number of educational organizations (and a few others) could not access the website due to receiving a "Your Connection is Not Secure" message, which would make anyone be very skeptical of continuing on to the site. If you hear of any issues regarding the new https version of the BPS site, please use the Contact form to let the Admin know.
(report to come later)
The Birmingham Historical Society will be having their annual Meeting on February 26, 2024 at the Botanical Gardens Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama. Their keynote speaker is Dr. Deutsch, who wrote the book Ancient Life in Alabama - The Fossils, The Finders & Why It Matters. This talk is titled "A Walk Through Deep Time".
Several members of BPS are mentioned in the book, including our founder, James Lamb, Chase Egli, and Ricky Mims.
The book will be available for sale and for autographs after the meeting.
Dr. George Phillips will again host the annual Fossil Road Show at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Fossil groups from all over the south attend this event, and show off their fossils. BPS will have an exhibit table at the road show this year, as will one of our members, Chase Eglin. It's a long trip, but worth the drive.
