Black Belt Museum "Window Exhibit"
The University of West Alabama’s Black Belt Museum has launched its new window exhibit series in downtown Livingston. The first exhibit is titled "The Secrets of the Black Belt". The exhibit opening is Thursday, September 15th at 6:00 PM on Franklin Street.

March 5, 2016 - Fossil Road Show, Jackson, MS
Submitted by admin2 on Mon, 05/02/2016 - 2:37pmBPS members were invited to participate in the 13th Annual "Fossil Road Show" held in Jackson, Mississippi, at the Mississippi Museum of Natural History. BPS showcased Alabama fossils, and set up a display of photos of the dinosaur dig for the newly named "Eotrachodon orientalis" that was found and excavated several years ago by BPS members under the leadership of James Lamb.
January 30, 2016 - Mississippian Fossils, Colbert Co, AL
Submitted by admin2 on Mon, 05/02/2016 - 2:35pmOn probably what turned out to be one of the most beautiful days in January, BPS members set off for North Alabama, to a site that hasn't been collected in at least 25 years. Numerous archimedes, blastoids, crinoids, and trilobites were found. With a Mardi Gras cake for a lunch treat, then dinner that evening at a local restaurant, we couldn't have asked for a more pleasant day.
May 2, 2016 BPS Program - Late Prehistoric Chiefdoms and Early Spanish Contact: Bridging the Gap at El Chorro de Maita, Cuba
Our speaker for May is Dr. A. Brooke Persons, Cultural Resources Investigator at UA’s Office of Archaeological Research. She will be discussing her fieldwork in Cuba focusing on the emergence of social inequality and the nature of Indo-Hispanic interactions. Hoover Public Library, Theater Conference Room at 7:30pm.
