Perhaps you wondered today why the BPS website looks so different...
BPS is pleased to announce that our new website is up and running! We've added a more friendly interface for mobile phones, with "hamburger" menus for ease of use. The site was updated earlier this year to use https (a secure method), rather than the more insecure http, which many large organizations, including museums, are not allowed to view. Nothing was lost in this conversion, and in fact, for the people behind the scenes, many new features have been added, making their job a bit easier.
The Directors of BPS were informed by Dr. Adiel Klompmaker that our society has been chosen for the honor of receiving the 2024 Alabama Avocational Paleontologist award at the National Fossil Day event being held on November 2, 2024. What a great honor!
Heads up everyone! The Alabama Museum of Natural History will hold their annual National Fossil Day Event in the Grand Gallery on November 2, 2024. BPS, along with many other groups, will showcase fossils from their collections. There are several kid friendly events, including a fossil dig, give-aways, and art tables.

You couldn't ask for a beautiful day to fossil hunt with BPS on a creek hunting for fossils.
BPS members got to visit a creek that is regularly on our list each year. The times we've visited the water levels were usually too high to traverse.
